CITYFÖRSTER architecture and urbanism will kick off the workshop, looking back at their almost 10 years of engagement in Africa with a focus on issues of urbanism and housing. This includes observations on different African cities and a short presentation of a Campus development 22ha that is currently being completed in Chalimbana, Zambia built largely with Compressed Stabilised Earth Blocks (CSEB’s).
Rokus OSKAM will then go into detail explaining the HCEB method and characteristics and give a demonstration of OSKAM’s new hand press and mobile HCEB production units. LEVS architects and planners will present the experience over almost 30 years of working in Mali and showing built examples using OSKAM’s HCEB bricks. From several different school buildings, teachers houses and storages and the first social housing realised in Bamako towards the first big hospital of 3500m2 for the Red Cross. LEVS will present the structural and architectural potential of HCEB in the first concept of a building Manual.
During the lunch break and Borrel the production unit will be on display and working in the courtyard of the venue.
