Too often we have to deal with extreme weather conditions that result in, among other things, flooding, hurricanes, and droughts. The keyword in these extreme situations is resilience. We cannot change the severity of some situations, but we can help with resilience and how we go prepared.
This session will be kicked off by Deltares, a world-leading Dutch research institute that is specialised in water. They help cities, for example Beira in Mozambique, prepare for extreme weather. Dutch dredging and marine contractor Van Oord will then share the latest insights how to make coastlines future-proof providing conventional sustainable and nature based solutions. We will also hear from TAHMO, a company that has set up numerous weather stations, all across Africa.
